Energetic. Ambitious. Passionate. These are words that best describe Laura Furtado. With over 22 years of experience, Laura has established herself
as a successful International Performer, Instructor and Choreographer within the dance and fitness realms in Toronto, Canada.
Laura has undergone intensive training in many dance forms such as Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Ballet, Acro, and Musical Theatre. For over twelve years,
she has successfully competed in many National and International dance competitions and pageants across North America, such as Showstoppers,
CNE Rising Star, Foot Loose, Maple Leaf Dance Masters of America and I Love Dance.
At these competitions, she has won numerous awards such as Top Overall Soloist, Dancer of the Year, Great Face and Style and Smile.
Laura has had great experience in choreographing and performing with dance troupes and artists at various events around North America and Europe.
She has been a member of successful dance teams belonging to Kama Entertainment, GDO Entertainment, Las Gatas Entertainment, Mint Entertainment,
Mandell Xtreme, HEAT Elite, Movement Magic and Show Biz Kids. In summer 2007, she was hand-picked for a selected group of dancers from Canada,
US or Brazil, to represent her form of dance style in Portugal, representing international talent. She has also recently performed at the 2008
World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, along side Kama Entertainment and GDO Entertainment of NYC. She is heading with the team to Ukraine
and Germany, for premium events hosted in the balance of the year. Most recently, through her company, Sensual Dance for Women, she has established
a Dance Event Division, Diva Entertainment, booking professional dancers in all genres of dance for various corporate events and parties.
As a certified Fitness Instructor Specialist with Can Fit Pro, North America’s largest fitness organization, Laura has been teaching Aerobics,
Hip Hop, Cardio Funk and Dance, for over for eight years, both at the recreational and competitive levels. Laura is also credited as a Dance Presenter
for the CanFitPro Fitness Conference and the FAME Fitness & Dance Expo in Toronto, ON. She is also involved in judging various dance and fitness
competitions, such as Humber Hype Dance Challenge, Strive Dance Challenge, FAME Fitness and Model Expo and the Canadian Classics Urban Dance Competition.
Through her various experiences in various forms of dance, Laura certifies Dance/Fitness Instructors across Canada, with her entrepreneurial
instructional workshops: Sexy Fitness and Dance Grooves. Both programs are the first of their kind in Canada to be certified by CanFitPro and
AFLCA (Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association).
In 2007, she was titled Lululemon Ambassador and has launched
her first Instructional Dance/Fitness DVD, Strip to Fit. Most recently, she is collaborating with Contejus, a talented Toronto-based Percussionist,
DJ and Producer, in producing customized dance music for her classes.
Within the last three years, Laura’s specialty has become various sexy-based dance/fitness classes for women. She is Owner and Artistic Director of DivaGirl, which consists of two divisions, DivaGirl Fitness and DivaGirl Entertainment. She is a leader in her dance style, alongside her roster of DivaGirl Licensee (18 to date), in offering unique, fun and artistic styles of sexy dance/fitness. The popularity of her classes has appeared in various media outlets such as CBC, Slice TV, Global TV, Rogers, Toronto Star, The National Post, The Mississauga News and Toronto Life.
